Language Teachers Promote Universal Understanding Bonjour. Hola! Guten Tag. Language Education is steadily paving a way to under- standing in the World. Teachers at Catalina are promodng this universal understanding by teaching the basic five languages of the world today. French, German, Spanish, Latin and English make up those taught. Vocabulary, spelling, and grammar of the various languages are an important part of the language exchange. The purpose of taking a foreign language is to learn to speak with fluency, with the exception of Latin which is the basis upon which other languages are built, states de- partment head, Mrs. Uarda Phelan. English is required for four years. Realistically, learn- ing our own language is a good idea, for how can we ex- pect to converse with others if We don,t know our own? 'W-. i. , 'Wai 'gravy . .
