Y Y Practice ln Politics Oflered By Boys State Upon arrival at the Arizona Teachers' College in Flagstalf where Boys State was held, each boy was assigned. to a political party to 'which he was to be loyal. Each party gave thought and deliberation to the formulation of a platform. There were three courses of study available-the study of the legislature, law, and peace officers. Everyone at- tended the class on peace ollicers but there-was a choice between the legislative and law courses. Duringfthe week, elec- tions were held. . . Human Relations Topic At Anytown Each year Catalina has sent delegates to the annual youth camp, Anytown.,' This is a workshop in human relations where each race and religion is repre- sented. During the morning a general assembly was held. At this time various subjects were' introduced and debated. Many topics were discussed in a workshop. The group heard speakers and enjoyed a variety of entertainment. Marsha Taggett, Jill Dykeman, Jane Flickinger, Carol Green, Linda Salant, Jeanne Buckwalter, and Diane Jeffries are pictured at left leaving for Anytown in Prescott. Ann Baksa, J arel Hambenne, and Emily Kittle are seeing them off. Girls State Affords Work in Government Last summer four girls from Catalina attended Girls, State. Each of the 210 girls there received practice inngovern- ment through first hand experience. Upon arriving, each girl was assigned to a city and a party. During the week city, county, and state meetings were held to discuss the problems of the different governments. Speakers were featured dur- ing this period. At the final banquet Gov- ernor Fannin inducted the new governor and Secretary of State who will serve their terms this year.
