Two girls jump for the ball as their teammates antici- pate catching it. P.E. Dept. Offers Varied Activities A wide variety of team sports is offered to all girls in their freshman and sophomore years. Speedaway, basketball, volleyball, softball, and hockey are only a few of the exciting team sports the girls may take. During the junior year, a semester of health is required. The remaining semester emphasizes individual sports such as tennis, golf, badminton, and archery. The P. E. department feels that individual sports are of a more lasting value to the student as they will be of a use later in life. With special permission from the instructor, a girl may take advanced sports, dance, or tennis. Sophomore and junior girls are eligible to try out for songleading or cheerleading which is also a part of the girls' P. E. department. A wild cheer arises from basketball fans as the team enters. AX , x l Barbara Miller drives the ball down the course. 170 i During their junior year most girls have an opportunity to take archery.
