This year's freshman football squad was small, both in size and number. Fifty-eight boys reported for practice in September, but by the end of the season this group had been reduced to twenty-eight pigskinners. It is hoped that these remaining players will develop into a fine varsity team in the future. The season record of four wins and six losses does not indicate the type of football which characterized the team according to Coaches Mel Vogel and Ev Nicholson. The Colts successfully opened their season with a 12-7 victory over Casa Grande. Pueblo turned the tables in the next outing as Catalina fell 7-12. Flowing Wells then decisioned the Colts 6-26. Amphi followed suit by squeez- ing past the frosh with a 7-13 triumph. The Colts regained the initiative the next week by dropping Tucson 19-14. They made it two in a row by edging Rincon 12-7. The Salpointe frosh squad was the next victim as the Colts swamped the parochial school 39-6. In the second meet- ing of the year with Pueblo, the cross-town school made a clean sweep of the season, annihilating the Colts 6-39. Sunnyside proved' a little too strong for the Blue and White by eking out a 13-14 victory. The Colts ended their season with a 7-19 loss at the hands of Mesa. f 1959 Frosh Schedule 1 gahlm, ' Sept. 26 Catalina Casa Grande -a Oct. 1 Catalina Pueblo 1? 7 Oct. 8 Catalina Flowing Wells ,, ,,,, -5 , na Q Oct. 15 Catalina Amphi lx, ' r 1' gill Egg?
