Any C.H.S. student in good standing and approved by the sponsor may ioin the radio club. This year the club worked on a short wave receiver and transmitter along with projects of their own choice. The Camera Club is open to any advanced photo stu- dent. The proiects for the year were to take pictures of the school dances and to help the Torch photo editors. The club met the first and third Wednesday of each month. The President was Milton Angel, the Vice-President was Dave Severson, the Secretary was Laura McNeil, the Treasurer was Alan Jarvis, and the Sponsor was R. L. Dawson. The purpose of this club is to further opportunity for students of the graphic arts department to explore the graphic arts field. Latin Club The purpose of the Latin Club is to promote in- terests and knowledge in the Latin language and Roman culture. To be a member you must be a Latin student at the present time or a former Latin student and passing all subiects. The officers for the year were Suzan Rowe, pres- ident, Elena Piziali, vice-president, Vivian Englert, secretary, and Susan Nagoda, treasurer. Eunice Odom was the sponsor of the Latin Club. Club El Cid was very active this year in presenting the Spanish assembly and ex- change programs from other high schools. To be a member of the Spanish Club you must be taking Spanish or have completed a year of the language. This club gave the students an opportunity to use oral Span- ish, to learn the customs, dances, and songs of the Spanish speaking people. Mcith and Slide Rule Club The Mathematics and Slide Rule Club of Catalina is an organization for those in- terested in mathematics. The Mathematics and Slide Rule Club met every Monday at 3:45 p.m. to foster an interest in math and to advance the knowledge of the mem- bers. Proiects they did this year were: slide rule instruction, Boolean algebra, analy- tical geometry, calculus and interesting mathematical oddities. Presiding over the meetings was Barry McCoy, David Resnick was Vice-President and Stephen Cohen was Secretary-Treas- urer. Advisors were Richard Paver and Ralph Futrell. Row l tl-rl. A. Avery, C.
