As it met every day during third period, Castro Valley's Orchestra rehearsed the music that it played at its major activities of the year, Directed by Mr. Elliot Charnow the orchestra played at several concerts and school events through the year. The Orchestra played at the an- nual Christmas assembly, the String Time in the Valley performance in March, and a concert in May at which every musical group at C.V.per- formed. Members of the Or- chestra played at every per- formance of South Pacific the Fine Arts Area's spring mu- sical and over one-half of the Orchestra's musicians were invited to the annual State Music Festival. Ably assist- ing Mr. Charnow throughout the year was first violinist Sandra Leckie. As concert mistress she was responsible for preparing and organizing the Orchestra for its concerts. f'A W- K' . ,,- direct the Dance Band Rallys, Proms Bringing music to many school affairs was the job of C.V.'s Dance and Rally Bands. Directed by Mr. Elliot Charnow, these two bands performed at dances and rallies. The Dance Band played at Castro Valley's Junior Prom and also at Tennyson's in February,and staged a jazz concert in the spring. Made up of volunteer student-musicians the Rally Band performed at some noon rallies and at all home varsity basketball games.
