With an interest in the teaching profession as the main requirement, the Future Teachers' of America had many enthusiastic members. The club, advised by Mrs. Sandy Cannon, attended a conference at Berkeley to learn: about other F.T.A. chapters in the Bay Area. The club also set up a Visitation schedule with A.B. Morris Junior High and Vannoy Elementary School. This dedicated group of potential teachers collected money to assist A.F.S. and to finance their own scholarship grant to a graduating senior. Through after school lab sessions Science Club members expanded knowledge of biology. Advised by Mr. Wallace Hennessy. the club took field trips to Big Sur in the spring. In its first year of existence Castro Valley's Home- making Club participated in many activities and did much to serve the school. The forty girls who comprised this organization learned much about homemaking, cooking and interior decorating from guest speakers and field trips. Activities of the club included a field trip to the Sunset Magazine Publishing House and attendence at a homemaking conference at Alameda High School. This active organization also decorated Allynls Ranch for the faculty Christmas party. Through their many activities the members learned much about homemaking and its related fields. Doris Herleman waits patiently for the spring election results. Members listen intently as a representative of Sarah Coventry Jewelry tells about her products. Aeolians Promote A'Cappella Benefits Established for the purpose of managing the choir's affairs, the Aeolian Club conducted several affairs at once this year. Projects included raising money to send the A' Cappella Choir to a music festival in Long Beach, planning a music festival at Canyon High, and playing chorus parts in this year's spring play, South Pacific.
