Ransdell, P. Coughlin, M. Ekorn. Hoping to bring better understanding of foreign lands, and cultures was the main idea of the American Field Service. Mainly responsible for bringing a foreign student to C.V. and sending one of our own over- seas, A,F.S. spent a great deal of time trying to raise money for these activities. The club's major goal of theyear was to schedule a springtime visit by Senator Robert F. Kennedy. This year A.F.S. a- dopted an orphanage in Brazil which it supported with funds collected by members during the annual Halloween Trick-or- Treat Drive , a December gym-clothes wash, and November doughnut sale. In its first year, the Spanish Club was the most active club at Castro Valley. Advised by Mr. Anderson, the club planned Project Mexico, which will send a Spanish language student to the University of Vera Cruz in Jalapa, Mexico, next year. In order to raise funds for this undertaking, the Spanish Club staged a hootenanny here at C.V. in March, at which Vip Barry, TV and recording artist, appeared with his combo, Another activity of this enthusiastic club was a field trip to historical Sonoma and the Valley of the Moon. Conley Band Officers Make Plans Established for the purpose of managing the band's business, Band Council did a fine job. During the year the Council managed the Pancake Breakfast to raise money for new band uniforms and wrote a new action code for band mem- bers. In addition,the Coun- cil staged a Spring Band Concert. Da.nce Band members practice First year teacher Mr. Charnow stresses the diminuendo to the orchestra. their numbers for the next dance. Photo Skills Developed Photo Club, advised by Mr. Rose was establishedthis February as usual, and was made up mainly of photography students. Meeting in the dark room, members learned how to develop, reduce, and en- large pictures. Also, they learned how to use filters in FRONT ROW: S. Sutton, S. Wells, K. Alcorn, J.
