Two Innovation This year marked the beginning of two new traditions at Castro Valley High. These were the selection of a basketball queen and a spring Spirit Day. Following up the practice of electing a foot- ball queen, each of C.V.'s clubs nominated one of its members to be its selection for basketball queen. The student body then voted for the nom- inees and elected Ellen Yamamoto. A 'Cappella nominee, as C,V,'s first basketball queen. The second of C,V.'s new traditions was the spring Spirit Day. This was held as a small-scale Sound- Off Rally to generate spirit for the varsity basket- ball team in its final game of the season. The class of 1968 won this inagural Spirit Day competition. Through these two new events a new heritage was created for succeeding classes at Castro Valley High. PAULA SENGSTACK TERRIE TIFFANY SANDY WHITE
