l Saved from the wicked witch of Arroyo, by the mighty Castro Valley football team, Dorothy led her class to a jubilant second place in the 1963 Sound-Off Rall . Experienced by only one year, the class of '6627 demonstrated great skill at organizing their spirit and en- thusiasm--the purpose for which the rally is held. With the theme of Sophomores in the Land of Oz, they made use of such props as the Emerald City, the Yellow Brick Road, and the characters of the Cowardly Lion, the Brain- less Scarecrow, the Heartless Tinwoodsman, the Queen of the East, and the Wicked Witch of the West fSan Lorenzob. Playing the parts in the order named were Li11daMills, Denise O'Lea1fy, Wanda Moore, Jane Crosby, and Bonnie Henningsen. The Sophomore mascot, Dorothy, portrayed by Yola Pontes, and her yellow and white attired classmates marched up to the field with confidence. To the tune of We're Off to See the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Cz they sang their way into second place -- losing only to the mightier seniors.
