45 Highlights of Boys' P.E. DON ROGERS TERRY COLE 'S A N efzjslgiili fi? 1 ' ' A , QL-yt? ROBERT HAYWOOD JACK MIYAMOTO NORMAN GUEST OSC AR SAK AMOTO Determined not to allow Castro Va1ley's boys to fall into the category of those physically unfit P.E. teachers provide a good, strenuous physical edu- cation program. Each day starts with the running of the circuit --a specific course required of all boys. They stop at certain stations and do push-ups, jump- ing jacks, sit-ups, and other ex- ercises which gives Spartan boys a vigorous, healthy workout and an important change of pace. From there they go on to play their assigned activity such as tennis, golf, archery, track, football, b a s k e t b all, baseball, wrestling, weight training, volleyball, soccer, handball and swimming. Golf is usually taken in the sophomore year and archery in the senior. Swimming classes are quite popular with the boys and are usually offered to all grade s in the spring. Social dancing is taken in the freshman year in combined classes with the girls' P,E., as is square dancing in the sophomore year. Thus the re- quired four years of physical education offer a varied program aimed at improving skill in speci- fic sports as well as physical fitness in general.
