Boisvert. L. Vick. Representing the' school in song Castro Valley's A'Cappella and Mad- rigals do a first rate job. Under the direction of Mrs. Whayne, ACappel- la's presentation of the Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie, and parti- cipation in the Christmas program and P.T.A, meetings took up most of their time. Also part of their activities was their outstanding performance in the Northern California Music Festival. Most often having previous singing experience, members expose Castro Valley students to the finest choral music, representing all periods in musical history. An additional group made up of those with exceptional talent for music make up the honor society for song--the Madrigals. After tryouts, only four persons from each section of the choir are chosen. Usu- ally singing without accompaniment, they also had a busy, schedule, which included performances at P.T.A. meet- ings, assemblies, and at the Shakespearian F e s ti v al, Christmas caroling at local Bay Area hospitals, and also competing at the Northern California Music Festival. 256 ROW TWO: V.
