' Radio Club To have an interestin radio and the mechanics of operating a ham set are the only requirements need- ed to join the enthusiastic members of the Radio Club. Learning more about the art and electronics of ham operation and actual obtaining of their licenses are the goals that the members strive for. Helping one another to learn technical terms, the Morse Code, and mechanics of setting up and making ham sets, involve many pleasure filled hours for those interested. Actual ex- perience on the air and the building of transmitters, receivers, converters, and test equipment for the school, as well as personal projects, are just some of the activities that take up their meeting times. Radio and Chess--Through Clubs FRONT ROW: Chris Anderson, Curt Revak, .lim Brachman, Chris Revak. ROW TWO: Richard Klink, Duane Binger, Larry Sprenkel, Phil Allen. Chess Club Old pros, as well as novices look forward to the after school meetings of the Chess Club. With improvement of skill as their main goal, chess club members compete With different schools within the area. The primary qualification for membership is to be interested in either learning the game or improving skill. Faculty spon- SO1'S,M1f. Sunnergffen and MV. Korstad help those who are learning to under- stand the basic rules and to develop their skills as well as enjoyment of the game. Establishment of an area tournament made up of the various school districts was the primary hope of this year's club. 211
