A svingin' pair-George Salas and Lynn Alexander-always drew u crowd whenevea that rock-ri-roll music started pouring out of their guitar and drums. This year all E wing classes were usually entertained first period by the sounds of a group of gone musicians jamming-our school dance band. The 25 members of the C. V. High dance band played for school dances, including noon dances, for the coed dance classes, and for several assemblies. In this class they learn to play good arrangements of popu- lar dance music, they participate in small com- bos, they brush up on techniques and practice ad libbing on their instruments. Many will earn their way through college by playing in college dance bands.

Vai Many times during the past year, we have been touched by our Castro Valley High Or- chestra, directed by Mr. Eugene Graves, The orchestra furnished lovely background music for both Fine Arts Area play productions, and joined the A'Cappella Choir at Christmastime in presenting the Messiah, with Jean Bowman ATM playing Ava Maria on the violin. They were also in the State Music Festival in San Jose in May, various assemblies at elementary schools, in the Spring Concert with the choir, and ended a wonderful year by playing for the Seniors' Baccalaureate.
