Gowlfo Q-CGM-dub 'lflflazim Under the trusted guidance of our counselors and senior advisors, the seniors completed their years in high school, They are on their way to a new world - the adult world of anticipation, expectation and experience. As the seniors sit and wonder about this new world, they realize that they must live up to the name of adult. They realize there are many new responsibilities to take on, as college, careers, families and responsibilities to their country as serving it and being good citizens. As they go their separate ways in this world they will come across experiences they have never had to face before. They will face these problems remembering the knowledge and advice received in school. They will not have to look forward and to wonder about their am- bitions and goals any longer. They are on their way, SENIOR ADVISORS, FRONT ROW, Left to Right: Mr, Thorsted Mrs Evans Mrs Galvin Mrs Toth Mr. Perata. BACK ROW: Mr. Sands, Mr. Sudmeier, Mr Golden Mr Frese Mr Sobieske

My summer in Sweden is the most important experience in my life. I never thought it possible to learn so much about people in such a short time. l stayed with a Swedish family by the name of Weijkling, my Swedish father, Tord, my Swedish mother, Ingrid, my Swedish brother, Boo, I7, and my Swedish sister, Birgitta, IS. My father is a claims adiustor for an insur- ance company called Hansa, in Goteborg. The family owns a three story home in Goteborg, but spend the summer in their vacation home about 30 miles south of the city. We went swimming or sailing almost every. day. I was introduced to many new foods as well, such as eel and blood pudding. I'm sure I approved of Swedish .food, because I gained nearly 20 pounds. I was surprised I was able to gain that much weight, since Europeans don't use cars for daily travel. I either walked or cycled a good 30 miles each day, I found it rather difficult to prove false the Swedish cliche about 'weak Americans.' The purpose of the American Field Service is to create a better under- standing between peoples, their purpose has been accomplished where l m concerned. After last summer I know, that no matter where in the world or under what conditions-people are all the same. All the wonderful friendships, the unusual experiences and best of all my better understanding of people here and abroad are due to the individuals who have helped make the A.F.S. program possible, nationwide, international and here in Castro Valley. l shall always be deeply thankful for the opportunity to experience such a beneficial and enjoyable summer.
