PROCESSING REQUIREMENTS When a customer ship finds that CAS- TOR will soon be in the area, her Supply Officer makes out his shopping list in mes- sage form. Radio Central receives this message and immediately routes it to the Electronic Accounting Machine Room where it is soon keypunched and processed for garbles. The punched IBM cards are then sent to the Fleet Issue Office where they are sorted for distribution to the holds. When the cards reach the holds, the Store- keepers enter the location battery and note the exact spot where an item may be found. The hold personnel then begin to bag and box the requirements, which are placed on the hatch square. The materi- al is then ready for breakout.
