He never minimized the challenge . . . the challenge of a responsibility that extended to the whole family of mankind, for he said, The people of the world respect a nation which can see beyond its own imagef' i Confronted with issaes involving human destiny, he was caaght between two worlds. No greater harden had to be sastained by any man in the history of the race, and yet he did not shrink from these questions. He was a man in fall command, prepared . . . prepared to say, The problems of haman destiny are not beyond the reach of haman beings , . . . prepared to say, We are not helpless before that task or hopeless of its saccess.
