JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY 1917 - 1963 E dedication to an american . . .a wise man looks into space, and does not regard the small as too little, nor the great as too bi gg for he knows there is no limit to dimensions . . . U So stated Lao-tse some centuries ago. In oar time, there lived such a man. He never minimized the challenge . . . the challenge of a responsibility that extended to the whole family of mankind, for he said, The people of the world respect a nation which can see beyond its own imagef' i Confronted with issaes involving human destiny, he was caaght between two worlds. No greater harden had to be sastained by any man in the history of the race, and yet he did not shrink from these questions. He was a man in fall command, prepared . . . prepared to say, The problems of haman destiny are not beyond the reach of haman beings , . . . prepared to say, We are not helpless before that task or hopeless of its saccess. We labor . . . toward . . . peace. We, the Falcon staff, dedicate the 1964 Falcon to a wise man: john Fitzgerald Kennedy. mm .qi , ,Zta ff With a good conscience oar only sare reward, with history the final jad ge of our deeds, let as go forth to lead the land we love, aslqing His blessing and His help, hat knowing that here on earth, God ls worlq mast truely he oar own. Q -John F. Kennedy K' Inaugural A ddress, J annary 20, 19 61 Presidential M essage, CLASS OF 1964 wiv Rita cofaovgf Vice-President The first venture of the class of '64 in its senior year was to quench the thirst of Knight rooters by selling cokes at football games. On November 73-16 the senior class sponsored a Book Fair that resulted in a student body that actually READ and 5356.31 for the senior class treasury. Even rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the hardy audience which watched the Qsenior girls play a mud-streaked game of Powder Pufl football, November 74, during which the Babes squeezed by the Pullettes 7-6. When Spirit Week came along, Castlemont students noted that the seniors, who sold candy apples on November 7, were the best sales- men. The S57.92 in profit made by the seniors was the largest amount made for a class treasury during Spirit Week, and their delicious candied apples were the most enjoyed sales item! From all indications the spring activ- ities will be as successful as those past. If this is true, the Class of '64 will be one of the most notable classes ever to leave Castlemont. Ours is and always will be a very unique and special class. None other has ever shared the experiences that we have. We have spent an undeniably great length of time together. During that period of time we have worked together and sought to make our three years here at Ye Castle the best pos- sible. This year we all shared the experience of our Powder Puff football and Senior-Faculty basketball games, along with our Senior Dinner and the Senior Ball, the true night of Knights. All these past experiences have meant a lot to us. They've made our three year stay a happy and successful one. Alter this year we may never see each other again. Each of us will go his own separate way. But, no matter where we go, we will always carry a part of the class with us. No one can ever take that away from us. With this in your possession l wish each and every one of you the best life has to offer, and I thank you for allowing me to play that l have in our life at Roosevelt Williams, Spring Senior Class President Roosevelt Williams 3 5 Secretary President O I ,X .. Kennedy Presidential M essage, Presiclenfs Council on Youth Fitness, July, 1961 5 i g x i s C xhx Dolores Long Vice-President S GF 1966 As the fall sophomore class presi- dent, I shall relate to you our part in contributing to the class history of this past year at Ye Castle. It has been a great experience and pleasure to work in your behalf. Since I entered the halls of Castlemont, an over-aged jun- ior high student knowing few if any outside of my little circle of friends, I have been impressed with the warm feeling of friendliness I received from my fellow Castlemont classmates. In the beginning af my office, I had a problem of inviting all of the sopho- mores to act as one team. It seemed that all clung to their junior high crowds and each crowd had a differ- ent opinion about something. However, the feeling of friendliness exhibited by our upperclassmen upon our arrival has brought us closer in trying to know each other and has united us into one class. l've been very pleased with the team work and the cooperation I have received from the sophomore class, and I hope we will remain a spirited and united class through the remain- der of our school days. It doesn't seem as if we bewildered sophomores already can have made it through a whole semester. lt's been a real honor to serve as the president of all girls council. It was a lot of work organiz- ing class meetings, setting up our Bottle-up booth in the Carnival Dance, initiating the pink popcorn and planning our sophomore Hours dance. Ours has been the largest class ever to enter Castle- . mont. We have taken -an active part Debble in all school activities, more than any Gffagfdclass preceding us has. More import- ant still, I feel we have made great strides toward securing that all-im- portant high school diploma and be- ginning to serve as responsible citizens of our community. Let's keep up the good work and make our class the finest to ever graduate from Ye Castle! CLASS OF 1965 Vicki Balugo Vice-President Voting for officers while in school and having a voice in student activi- ties, develops us into better men and women. We are more educated in gov- ernment and democracy, which should cause us to be better citizens of the United States. As iunior class presi- dent, I learned and experienced many things that will help me in the future. I can't say that my term as president was all fun and no work, because it was far from it. One cannot begin to know the work that is involved in representing the thoughts and desires of 900 people, until he is thrust into the situation. There is always the de- sire to please everyone and to work hard for those that mean so much. This desire is what made my work easier. Going hand in hand with that desire is how well one is supported. Many students were wonderful. They were willing to come early or to stay late in order to work for their class. Those students included the hard working salesmen that sold popcorn at the home football games, the sales- men that sold Missles on one cold rainy sales day, and, finally, the stu- dents that backed the Junior Prom November 8, by continuously working. My sincerity can only be expressed, for no words can relate what my heart feels. To the junior class, l wish the best of luck in everything. Alma Lacy, Fall Junior Class President Karen Housten Alma Lacy SeC e+a'Y President fall officers Round Table Representatives: Linda Barber, Don Murray, Karen H o u s t e n, Beverly Taylor, and James Grind- linger. CLASS OF 1965 Karen Housten Vice-President is .V-,X,A X ag Vfli l w Linda Lacey Secreta ry My term as junior class president was truly a great pleasure. I enjoyed working with my cabinet in getting together class activities, but I must admit it took plenty ol work. During my term as class president, the juniors sponsored three activities. First of all, we contributed to the student body Carnival Dance March 20, sponsoring and operating a loatball toss. It was full of fun for all involved. Our second activity was a Spring Missle and Coke sale, which was quite successful be- cause of the hot spring weather. The activity that ended our junior year was one ol the greatest events held this spring, our junior class Swim Party on May I4. Again I would like to say I enjoyed leading my class in its act- ivities. I would also like to say that none of this would have been possible without the juniors cooperation. Next semester we will be the senior class, and I think our class will be simply GREAT! For a brief shining period we were forfunafe fo have a man of gallanfry and of acfion as leader of our counfry. The lafe presidenf was so a parf of our lives fhaf if is apparenf in many ways. The acfivify secfion can share a spark of idenfify wifh Mr. Kennedy. In all his busy sched- ules, Presidenf Kennedy fook fime for fhe fhings he loved fo do. This included especially his inferesfs in fhe arfs. Af Casflemonf we also fake fime and energy for fhe creafive aspecfs of life. x Falcon sfaff members fake a coffee break. John F. Kennedy loved fhe noble arf of polifics. On his elecfion eve he sfafed, l run for fhe presidency because if is fhe cenfer of acfion . . . This is frue in our own school. Our sfudenf governmenf program is fhe cenfer of acfion and fhe wheel around which fhe enfire acfivify program revolves. Here we have given recognifion fo fhe polificians of our sfudenf governmenf. As a man John F. Kennedy was an inspirafion. He was a man of vasf resources and inferesfs. Our counfry fook fhese from him, and his admin- isfrafion accenfuafed a mood in America fhaf encouraged all forms of arf and enferfainmenf.
