Dear Castlemont, I hear from my friends that you're being torn down, Please say that it isn't true, Your classic walls mean so much to me, They mean a lot to others TOO. If they take you down, we'll get a brand new school, But without you it wouldn't seem right, When you go, our theme goes too, No more Crier, Crusader, or Knight. You see, a modern institution Won't fit our theme of old, They might as well change your victorious name, And our colors to green andggoldl The new school halls will be continually full, But they'Il always seem empty to me, You'll always be there somehow, some way, But I'll never be able to see. - I don't want you to go away, But there's nothing I can do, Please say that all this is fantasy, That this horrible thing isn't true. Though I'm only a sophomore now, And I haven't been here long, lt's easy to see on the faces of all That what they're doing is terribly wrong. Always, Linda. I was glad to receive your letter, I got it just today, I thought l'd better Q answer it now, Because I haven't long to stay. g Your letter seemed so sorrowful, ' Please don't be distressed, Try to look at it the way I do, lt's really for the best. My walls are weak and not too safe, , You see l'm growing old, And if there was an earthquake, I'm afraid I wouldn't hold. I've lived a long, long happy life, I've lived through wind and rain, And all the hearts inside of me r Helped me by-pass pain. When our team won, I couldn't cheer, When we lost, I couIdn't Cry: You see, I have no heart but that of yours, You are Castlemont High! lt's not the building that makes the school, The building is mere Crust, I live only within you, And to you, my life I entrust. ' When friends say that they're ruining me, Tell them it isn't true, Tell them that I live on still In the hearts of them and you. Remember this as you walk down My new, more perfect hall, I'm not gone, I'm not 0 away, I m just changed, that's alll , Yours always, Castlemont.
