cbrnlnrnn rusahes HIS year Coach Rxchert recelved a few well deserved breaks 1n the way of materlal whlch he molded 1nto a team that fought 1ts way 1nto an undlsputed O A L champ1onsh1p the first 1n the hxstory of the school W1th a speed burnmg backheld the fastest m the league a better than average lme and plenty of fight Castlemont s Crusaders top pled team after team untll they reached thelr long cherxshed goal To rev1ew the O A L season let us conslder what happened Wlth Plrate cutlasses clangrng rmpotently on sh1n1ng Crusader armor San Leandro s hopes were sunk by the final score 7 0 Unforgetful of the unhors mg of 33 our Rampag1ng Avengers dashed 1nto Bushrod at full t1tlt and swlftly slew a terrorlzed Cub 13 7 Next a group of bell1gerent Teddles vaxnly flung themselves 1n the path of the Purple Rxders 1n an attempt to stem the march but crumpled lgnommlously 31 6 Easlng up to a trot the Purple Rlders felt the force of a cagey Bulldog s Jaws early 1n the game and were thrown O 7 Chant1ng Beat McClymonds our Castle Guards rose to the oc cas1on to slaughter a desperate trlbe of tomahawk wreldmg Braves, 6 0 Oak land s feeble Wlldcat a mere shadow of 1ts former self llstlessly scraped dull claws on sh1n1ng steel and then lard down and d1ed 31 O jlttery at the possl b1l1ty of belng O A L champlons our Flymg Kmghts shook off thelr cares and rambled lnto the Tlgers den and emerged unscatched and v1ctor1ous 12 O Llstlessly gomg through the mot1ons1n a post season charlty game our Crusaders forgot thexr Crusade and took lt on the chm from the San FFHHCISCO Champlons G3l1l60 1n Kezar Stadlum Thus ended one of the best football sea sons 1n the hlstory of Castlemont a season whxch we may well v1ew wlth prlde I I . . . , . eministenuz September 4 Here we are again with summer tans poison oak and good intentions September 21 The conquering heroes make their debut San Leandro is defeated 7 0 1n initial O A L football game September 25 Faculty Footbal Fashions go over big at Girls H1 Jinx held midst Autumn leaves Septe nber 27 And 1ce cream goes over bigger at the Boys Jamboree Comedy boxmg and wrestling are of secondary importance September 28 Bold Knights bow to bashful ladies giggling gals greet grid men shy sophorrores smile at sophisticated seniors' The reason for this chaos Hello Day October 3 G A A neophytes wear hair ribbons carry dolls and have a swell time at the Bleacher Blowout The Dads Club entertams the varsity with football movies and beans October 12 Digmties and reputations among other things suffer severe shocks at H 12 skate October 19 The Sports Dance and 3 701 toes are stepped on October 26 No runs no hits and very few errors at the High junior skating party October 30 Sugar n spice n everything nice That s what senior candy IS made of and umm was it good' sophomores commg out party November 2 Castlemont wins O A L We celebrate at Low Junior skate November 9 Open House Night Proud mamas and papas see how little Susies and Willies acquire larnm in the little red school house November 12 The Crusaders take it on the chin as Galileo smothers the O A L Champs November 16 Student Body Executives stop governing long enough to partake of dancing cake and cider at their semi annual Social November 21 Virginia reels square dances and quadrilles to a hill billy orchestra are featured at the junior Prom and Grandmother s faith in the younger generation IS restored And after the Prom was over we all went to the L 12 Theatre Party to see David Harum November 23 The higher and mghtler seniors held a Harvest Dance November 28 Another skating party and we bruise so easlly This time the H 10 class is host December 7 The Beaux Arts Soxree Future Barrymores and Martinellis and Tschai kovskys perform December 13 Beneath holly and mistletoe the Seniors enjoy an old English Christmas dinner January 10 In an atmosphere of the famous Twelfth Night Revels the seniors hold their traditional assembly January 11 The Senior Ball Best bib and tucker are donned and we dance till dawn JanL.ary 25 With hearts beatlng sadly under our purple gowns and hands clutching tightly our hard earned diplomas we bid adleu to the Castle It has been fun - . , . -3 . y . .
