uhhcatlnns EW STUDENT publ1cat1ons have had such an influence upon the actions of its readers as Ye Castle Crier has had this term Indeed our paper has been the life insurance of every important event Strange as it may seem the Crler staff operated under entirely new condxtlons Editor Mary Jane Kirby supervised the work of her assistants and each associate editor at some time was given an opportunity to set up page one This system recommended by Mr Mortensen has proven successful by giving a deslrable variety 1n page makeup Phyllls Miller associate ed1tor of Ye Falconet achieved an enviable efficiency 1n executing her duties Not content with wrxtmg almost half the Falconet Phyllis absorbed most ot the unfinished material which always appears at the eleventh hour byfbm, HDHDSUUP USIC hath its charms and well indeed do we know the meaning of this saying owing to the fine work of the music department of Castlemont during the past semester Orchestra glee club and voice culture classes co operated in putting on the now famous Beaux Arts Soiree an evening of musical and ented group of vocalists from the voice culture classes entertainment was furnished for a music assembly and later thls same group furnished a chorus which sang Christmas carols with never to be forgotten beauty An equally important part of the music department 1S that of the lnstru mental which is composed of band and orchestra The band whlch lS noted for its Fine talent presented two noon day concerts this semester and has had several important engagements outside of school In addltion to this both orchestra and band are responsible for the success of many assembly programs illibe QEIZUBII uf the Eulhen Spur ITH the presentation of gold p1ns to Pat Graley Bessie Obrado vich Arnold Beasley and Stanley Backlund the Order of the Golden Spur concluded 1ts aCt1Vlt16S this term Gold pins which are awarded to students who have been members of the honor society for five semesters is the highest scholastic recognitlon glven by Castlemont Under President Stanley Backlund the O G S enjoyed a full program The honor society rltual written by Arnold Beasley was presented for the first time at an assembly this semester The semi annual initiation picnic was held at Durant Park on October 29 Unique stunts and elaborate tortures for the new members were the most appreclated events of the day I V I ' ' ss ' u ' . . , . , - . . . .
