X XNX NYt r Blass History Firsf Graduafing Class from Casfle of fhe 50fh Sfafe The Class of 1960, flying under the colors of Black and White, reached the top rung of the Ladder of Success. We were helped up the first step by President, Irene Hanaokag Vice-President, Roy Ishii, Secretary Ruby Tadlasg and Treasurer, Ronald Maeda. And our chosen class flower was the red carnation. It was a year of hard work and, we lived up to the name of Suffering Sophmores . In spite of our suffering the year was thrilling one, made so, by our unforgettable, Sweetheart Bonnie Canteen and Farewell Dance-not to mention the help of our excellent advisors, Mrs. Miriam Deisseroth and Miss Gertrude Sakai. We climbed up to that second step with a bang and became Jolly Juniors . Our leaders for the year were President, Joyce Oshima, Vice- President, Roy Ishii, Secretary Susan Murakami, and Treasurer, Vivian Hashimoto. The unforgettable event of that year was our dreamy junior-Senior Prom, reigned over by the lovely Irene I-Ianaoka and dashing Edwin Smith. Its theme, Dreme , was certainly an appropriate one. We were again guided by our capable advisors, Mrs. Miriam Deisseroth and Miss Gertrude Sakai. Slowly and full of confidence the Mighty Seniors were led up the final climb to their third step in the year of 1959-60. Leading us bravely through a wonderful year and certainly a memorable one was President, Sammy Carl, Vice-President, Jane Tomita, Secretary, Noel Derinisg and Treasurer, Vivian Hashimoto. Memorable events included our Senior Class Day, which was held on February 26, and our Senior Class Picnic, which was held on March 7. The Senior Class Paper traditionally has come out on Class Day, but our Class Paper came out before our Senior Prom. It was full of all that we had accomplished and it named students who had excelled in different fields of education and activities. Outside of graduation itself and receiving our diplomas, the real highlight of our Senior year was the Senior Prom and Banquet. We enjoyed working with our advisors, Mrs. Venita Lobdell, Mr. Harry Brown, and Mr. Alvin Wun. They devoted a tremendous amount of time on our behalf for which we say Mahalo to You, for helping us, Strive Today for a Better Tomorrow .
