Russ Nyerges, the man who
leads the Case band down the
field at each game. . . the man
who sports the high-plumed
hat and flowing cape, and also
the man who directs the foot-
ball band in the absence of
Clever formations. . . militaristic marching. ..
quality music have all helped George Strickling
achieve for Case's band the title of "The Best
in the Big Four." The newly remodeled Band
Room proved to be an added incentive for all
Case's musical engineers "to prove their
worth," and they certainly did at the football
games and the never-forgotten Home Concert.
lt was Russ Nyerges, drum major, and "tiny
mite" majorette Betsy Strickling who set the
cadence for the marching band. When Student
Manager Art Wittmer became puzzled with
any type of band procedure, it was "Doc"
Sanford, faculty manager of the musical clubs,
who supplied the much-needed advice.
