Honored Members of Sports Wrestling-Gary Veserat Gary Veserat was chosen as Casa Robles outstanding wrestler for the 1969-70 season. His record was l2 St l and he took a first in the Nevada Union invitational as Well as a first in the G.V. C. league tournament. Gary has a very good Wrestling style consisting of a variety of holds, very good strength and balance, teamed up With a very positive hard-nosed attitude. Gary is a credit to the Casa Robles Wrestling program, his presence will be missed next year when We roll out the mats, but l am sure he will go on to a fine college wrestling career. Soccer: Tom Buger, Top Borise Cota, Bottom The entire soccer team Worked very hard so no one individual really stood out, how- ever, two individuals were honored by the coaches in the league for their outstanding performances. Team captain, Borise Gota was selected honorable mention, all-league at fullback, and Tom Burger, only a junior, was selected all-league forward and the most valuable player of the G.V.G. tournament. Both players have outstanding ability and have played every position on the team at one time or another. This was necessary be- cause of injuries or illnesses to teammates, and both players could have gotten more personal recognition if they had not been Willing to fill in for teammates. 218

m bers of Spo rts Football Tom Treszona is no doubt the most valuable player of the Casa Roble football team. Tom's outstanding performance of the field made him Prep of the Week in the Sacramento Union. Tom scored the touch- down and kicked the field goal which gave us our first Win since We entered the CVC league. Cross Country This year, Tim Bryan was an outstand ing Cross Country runner. Although he was only a Sophomore, he ran varsity, winning much of the time. Tim Was rated sixth in the league. He is considered one of the best Cross Country men in the Sacramento- joaquin Valley. Basketball Ron Applegate had a fine year and was a big asset to his team. Ron scored 435 points in the regular game season, with points per game averaging 20.7 with his best perform ance against La Sierra with 33 points. 217
