The outdoor volleyballfbasketball courts had a new look this year. Some students attended classes in Building Seven, a temporary four-plex of class- rooms. Mr. John Kashner's senior homebase class con- structed this huge football balloon out of trash bags and gaffer's tape to promote school spirit and win the homebase spirit competition. Student Ana Vanvorst receives valu- able instruction from her teacher Mr. Robert Mize. Bearing the rigors of Accelerated Chemistry are Bobbi Gerdis and Renee Walters. Here they ob- serve a reaction of potassium with water. Accelerated American History students Kathy Apodaca, Tina Cress, James Faucette, Kevin Van Hazel, and Deana Lunt present their project cover- ing the Colonial period. Freshman English can be tough, and group study always helps. Action was taken by the administration because students began to park in faculty spaces. Some students protested the move by staging a sit-in in Peart Park. Another first at our school was the election of a Student Body President who is a junior. David Lu was the first junior ever to be elected to the posi- tion after many student generations of a senior president. Here David introduces the candidates for Homecoming King and Queen to a group of students.
