THE STUDENT COUNCIL The purpose of the Student- Council of the Carver Vocational High School is to act as an intermediary between the student body and the administration, to develop intelli- gent leadership among the members of the student body, and to render assistance in carrying out student activities. The policy of the Council has been a compromising one. It has handled its problems with equity and logic, feeling that having derived its power from, and being a delegation of the student body, it is its duty to justify the confidence of the group which it represents. It does this by handling the problems as completely as possible and in such a way as to establish the most desirable relationship between the student body and the faculty. The Student Council is the supreme student governing body. TRAVELINC VACABONDS The Traveling Vagabonds, the oldest club at Carver, endeavors to make tours of interesting and important places in Baltimore, and to learn through traveling something of importance concerning nearby places. The program this year, 1950'-1951, includes trips to Friendship Airport, VVash- ington, Annapolis, and Mount Vernon. The theme for this year is Politeness Versus Rudeness. The newly elected officers as of March 1951 are: Hattie Highsmith ..... .. . President Adlyn Murchison .. .. L ..... Vice President Mattie Smith . . . ...... Secretary Joan Taylor was re-elected as Treasurer. Mayola Man- ning is in charge of the Sinking Fund. SAFETY CLUB The Carver Safety Club is a group of students organized to effect smoothness of operations in the school among the student body. It is composed of students elected by the faculty because of their dependability, trustworthiness, initiative, and regards to organization and safety. THE CARVER CHORUS A group of students with a yearning to sing formed the Carver Chorus in the earlier months of 1950. This chorus is under the able guidance of Mrs. Lois Wright, our music instructor. Not only has the chorus rendered programs in our assemblies, but has given programs in other schools. The most notable appearance of the choir this year was at the Music Festival held at the Douglass High School.
