19' 4,11 OUR PRESIDENT WARREN GRAY Graduates, the doors of opportunity are now opened for you to go through. You have earned the key to your new life which might open the doors to success. As you enter your new life you will face the problem of deciding what path you will take-will it be the pathway of success or the pathway of failure? The difference between failure is doing a thing nearly right. In begin- ning this new life you must learn to be the master of yourself, Keep your body in such perfect condition that your brain will do better work than it did in the past. You must learn how to overcome difficulties, develop character, and you must never take things as they are for there is always room for improvement. Half way to success you will come to a path of heartaches, hard- ships, and disappointments. This is life itself. This path can be blotted out with self confidence. Success results largely from the sum of little things well done. VVhen you work, work. Put the whole mind and heart in your job. Know nothing else. Do everything the very best way you can. Out distance everyone. This will not be hard, for many of the other fellows are not trying hard. Master details and difficulties. Be always ready for the next step up. If you are a bookkeeper, be an expert, if a machinist, know more than the boss, if an office man, surprise the employer by model work or if in school, go to the head and stay there. All this is easy when the habit of con- quering takes possession. In beginning your new life, you will have these things and many more to face before you become a success in life. I quote, Have a purpose in life and having it, throw into your work such strength of mind and muscle as God has given you. Be not ashamed of an humble home or an humble occupation, be not ashamed of poverty or even a small amount of natural endowments, but you may well be ashamed of mis-spent time and misdirected talents. As you begin your new life, the only way you will become a success is simply by carrying out the rules of success.
