Rams Lasso Mustangs It was a muddy night for the Rams, hut the Rams were able to pull off a victory from the Mustangs. I he first touchdown of the evening came on a 40 yard Kinnie Morris to Stanley Young strike early in the first quarter. The point after attempt was missed and the score stood 6-0. Jackson-Olin came hack and tied the game at 6-6 midway in the second quarter. Just before halftime, the Rams fumbled a punt snap in the end zone for a 2 point safety which gave the Mustangs an 8-6 halftime lead. During the third quarter both teams battled in the rainy weather. Finally, the Rams out battled the Mustangs late in the 4th quarter when Gary Taylor scored from the one yard line to give the Rams the go-ahead lead. On the next kickoff, the Mustangs took the ball and drove down the field, only to be stopped on a 4th down play. The Rams took the ball over on the 20 yard line and with the running of tailback Johnny Debardlabon. the Rams drove down field, running the time out. A 12-8 victory was insured. 94

Vikings Sail Pass Rams It was an unfortunate night for Ram fans. The fans received their first disappointment when the Rams received the opening kickoff and returned it to the Huffman 10. However, the run was called hack on a penalty. Undaunted, just two plays later the Rams Johnny Green dashed 70 yards on an end-around play that fooled the whole Viking defense. The result was a Carver touchdown. Stanley Young kicked the extra point giving Carver the lead 7-0 early in the 1st quarter. Following the kickoff, the Vikings drove the ball 65 yards for a touchdown. The score was tied 7-7. In the second quarter Huffman again drove down the field scoring another touchdown. The ncvcr-givc-up Rams started their own second drive down the field ending when quarterback Kinmc Morns hit split end Tester Young in the end zone on a five yard pass. The PAT fell short giving the Vikings a 14-13 halftime lead. During the 3rd and 4th quarters the Rams defense held lough but couldn’t seem to stop the Viking offense. The final score was Huffman 28 and Carver 13 in a very hard fought game. 93

Colonels Survive Ram Rally A fired up Ram squad took the field against the Woodlawn Colonels. Taking the opening kickoff, the Colonels battled against the defense of the determined Rams driving 54 yards in 12 hard-earned plays for a touchdown. The extra point was wide and Wood-lawn led 6-0 in the first quarter. It was a defensive battle for the rest of the half when neither team could score. I-ate in the second quarter. Carver threatened after a Woodlawn fumble. Quarterback Kinnie Morris connected on passes to Lester Young and Johnny Green to get to the 14 yard line. But the drive died at the six when a 4th down pass fell incomplete. Woodlawn drove to the 32 yard line early in the third quarter, but Carver’s Floyd Lawson intercepted to end the Colonel’s hopes. Woodlawn scored in the 4th quarter when the Colonel’s quarterback hit his split end in the end zone for the score. The two point conversion was good. Bad luck struck on a big Woodlawn defensive play as the Rams had a punt blocked. The defensive back fell on the ball in the end zone and the score was 20-0. Carver came charging back on the passing of Kinnie Morris to light up the scoreboard. Morris hit Johnny Green from the 10 yard line for the touchdown. Lester Young then passed to Stanley Young for the two point conversion. With 2:21 left in the game. Woodlawn recovered an onsidc kick and ran out the clock ending the game with the score 20-8. 95
