Rams Upend Herd In the second game of the year, the Rams got into winning ways by upending Parker 7-6. Parker earned its points by capping a 69 yard, eight play drive with a stunning touchdown run from 4 yards out. With Carver defender Ronald Perryman hanging onto both legs. Parker’s quarterback still managed in desperation to pitch the ball to a Parker run-ningback who hauled it over for the game’s first points. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were mostly a defensive battle. In the 4th quarter. Carver got a golden opportunity to score when big sophomore Carl Gordon fell on a Parker fumble at Parker’s 36 yard line. The Rams offense took over and quarterback Kinnic Morris passed to split end Lester Young at the 15 yard line. Young turned goalward and ran the ball in for the score. The game was tied 6-6. With the kicking ability of sophomore Stanley Young, the extra point was good. The Rams now had the lead 7-6. Parker made a desperate effort to come back, but lime ran out and the Rams had come up with a stunning 7-6 victory. 92

Lions Overtake Rams Carver's first step into the season slipped into the hands of state playoff hound West find Lions. Carver was unable to get anything started with every drive ending on third dow n plays. West find was able to capitalize on Carver’s mistakes which led to a 21-0 victory for the Lions. West End dominated the first quarter and scored first With the score 6-0 and only 1:04 left in the half, the Lions were able to score on a 10 yard pass, and capped it with a 2 point conversion. The Score stood 14-0 at halftime. The Carver defense came out strong in the second half but the offense still was unable to score. The Lions put the final points on the board late in the third quarter on a 14 yard run. The extra point w as good. The outstanding Ram for the game was Willie Young who punted six times for a 40.3 average.

Vikings Sail Pass Rams It was an unfortunate night for Ram fans. The fans received their first disappointment when the Rams received the opening kickoff and returned it to the Huffman 10. However, the run was called hack on a penalty. Undaunted, just two plays later the Rams Johnny Green dashed 70 yards on an end-around play that fooled the whole Viking defense. The result was a Carver touchdown. Stanley Young kicked the extra point giving Carver the lead 7-0 early in the 1st quarter. Following the kickoff, the Vikings drove the ball 65 yards for a touchdown. The score was tied 7-7. In the second quarter Huffman again drove down the field scoring another touchdown. The ncvcr-givc-up Rams started their own second drive down the field ending when quarterback Kinmc Morns hit split end Tester Young in the end zone on a five yard pass. The PAT fell short giving the Vikings a 14-13 halftime lead. During the 3rd and 4th quarters the Rams defense held lough but couldn’t seem to stop the Viking offense. The final score was Huffman 28 and Carver 13 in a very hard fought game. 93
