IN MEMORIAM JOHN A. HARP, JR. Born-January 28, l909 Died-January 4, i957 Memory is one of our most precious possessions. lt is a library filled with priceless volumes of our lives. Each of us at Carthage High School has one volume that is gold embossed and holds the treasured memories of an understanding heart, a friendly smile, a pair of merry eyes and an all abiding faith in young people. Mr. Harp can never completely leave us. He ioined us freely, gaily in our play, he consulted with us seriously in our personal problems, he never laughed at us, but was always ready to laugh with us. He advised us carefully in our edu- cational problems. His guidance and wisdom will always influence our lives. As we mature and age and gain in life experiences we will understand even more how much his high moral principles, his Christian ideals, his scholarly concepts of education, and his love for all young people have influenced our lives. Mr. Harp was teacher, counselor, guide, and advisor, but most of all we are proudly happy that every student could call him Friend. Go with God, Mr. Harp, your volume will never be closed in our library of memories. By Sally Anne Crawford
