Early in the fall, the rnenzbers of the nucleus u'ho are: Mary Helen Botts, Bob Capps, Beverly Faulkner, and Gary Wilflcy, prepared a student directory for the use of students and citizens of the community. The Student Council has had charge of the ticket sales for all the football ganies and the basketball gafnies in addition to having charge of the sale of tickets for the basketball tournanients. They assisted in the Curtis Magazine drire for the purchase of an electric scoreboard for the football ganies. They haire collected contributions for the Community Chest, the Red Cross, March of Dinies, and Cancer Fund. They are the sponsors of the neu' coke machine, and also furnished a nzenibership in the Y. M. C. A. for some underpriifileged boy ufho was u'orthy of it. The Carthage High School Pep Band ufas organized on December 12, 1950, this is its third year and it is still a thriving organization, thanks to the student body. The years activities included playing at the pep assemblies, the foot- ball and basketball games at home and some of the out-of-toicn basketball games, and various civic activities. The membership is composed of approximately 15 members of the High School Band, and is entirely voluntary. F.F.A, members rank high scholastically. The Parliamentary Procedure Team composed of Don Spradley, chairman, Wayne Carter, Harold Hartley, Jr., Roland Knight, Bill Powell, and DeWayne Cowan, and our public -speaking contestant, Bill Powell, competed in the State Contest at Columbia on April 24-25. Four of our chap- ter members received State Farmer Degrees for the year 1951-52 as follows: Wayne Carter, Bill Powell, DeWayne Cowan, and Don Spradley. Eldred Spain was one of six F.F.A. members chosen in the State of Missouri to play in the National F.F.A. Band which played for the National F.F.A. Convention in Kansas City, Missouri October 8-11. Seventy F.F.A, members completed a total of 125 productive projects with a total net income of bl448,lllJ0. Our chapter purchased a new Manley Popcorn Popper at a cost of 31245, which is used at school games and other community projects. The annual Future Farmers Parent and Son Banquet was held in May, at the other F.F.A. teams in the district. In February, we sponsored an assembly program and had as our guest speaker, Mr. William Markwardt of Joplin. The annual Future Farmers Parent. and Son Banquet was held in May, at the Drake Hotel. The Aims of the society are two fold: First to establish and promote standards of excellence in all phases of dramatic artsy second to create an active and intelligent interest in dramatic arts among the students. The motto of the society Act well your part: there all the honor lies. Their colors are blue and gold. The society meets monthly and the members participate in varied dramatic programs. This year on November Z3 the Thespians presented a three-act myst- cry drama entitled Nine Girls. Seventeen neil: members were formally initiated March 31 following a banquet held at the Drake Hotel. Students interestecl in newspaper publication meet with the sponsors early in September, and elect an eclitor and staff assistants. This year TIGER TALES inaagnratecl the plan of having the paper printed by a printer, thus malfainy it similar to a real newspaper. This plan, nfith the invaluable help of the sponsors, Mrs. Kathryn Smith and Mr. A. H. Rogers, and the backing of the entire staclent bocly, has been suecessful.
