The society has steadily grown in prestige and influ- ence. There are now 3384 chapters in senior high schools and 5231 junior high school chapters in the United States. ln 1931 Carthage High School was granted a charter to this organi- zation. Each year the faculty of Carthage high School elects students from the junior and senior classes who are eligible to the society. Any student who has attended Carthage High School one year and who is in the upper third of the class is eligible. The number of members can not be more than fifteen per cent of the senior class or five per cent of the junior class. This year the members have again made every effort to fulfill their purpose, which is to establish student initiative, leadership and democracy. The Council is composed of representatives from each section, form- ing a nucleus which works in close co-operation with the student body. Not only does it promote school spirit, good citizenship and understanding between faculty, students, and community, but to the council goes the task of selling tickets at all football and basketball games. During the four-day Sub-Regional Tournament the council sold a total of 31,640 from window sales. This year the Council promoted the Curtiss Publishing Co. Plan, whereby students sold magazine subscriptions and renewals. The Council gave the profit which was made to the band. Also this year the Council backed the ticket sales for the annual F F A Barnwarmin' They collected donations for Chi istmas baskets and Mai ch of Dimes They gaxe to the Community Chest Red Cioss and supervised the Crippled Childiens drive Eai ly this spring the Council sold adveitising and edited a student directory to be given to the students and teachers Each member not only feels proud to belong to the Studen' Council feels proud of its president Charles Estus and capable sponsor Mis Webster but most of all feels pioud of the student body it iepiesents op Ro Edde F ench lilly M D nl 1 n 1 e E en W t e M 1 D nh lSta ch y 'Vla ie Bi khea H i.h K ity V Jean Ph ll1 F Ad eka H ie C lyn n e D thy hcl 1904 This was the second iear of Journalism in the high school Das Yahibuch an annual was the successful publication Page 37 . She is quite impressionable and her imagination gets her into a number of difficulties. Judy wants to be Queen of the ball that her club is throwing. The girl who raises the most money for the Community Relief Fund is to be crowned queen. A To raise money for such an undertaking she and her friend Barbara hit upon the plan of entering different contests and using the prize money. Imagine the embarrassment caused when it is announced on the radio that Mr. Foster has just won honorable mention in a contest for the most Hkissable lips. Randolph, a precocious boy with a tantalizing sense of humor, has developed the hobby of collecting insect specimens and the like, much to the disgust of Mrs. Foster. Being wise to many of Judy's schemes, he offers her several helpful sug- gestions, and many others which are not so helpful. The ironing out of the mix-ups into which Judy and her friends involve the family proves very amusing. j clll'll0l Cflflifif K 7,139 f ll-XNlxl'tt 1DtlK10iMr 'lou ful J uk Mute C rrnlxn Janeen I .rtrrcr 1 l4IIT1lS Alxce Ann Srneldrr Iarrx Dunhrm Delmex Marble Rnlrert Redmond Ill 'Vlaurrce Bl rekwell I rll VN1 mn Delores WILQIIIQ Ffrrolxrr Frost Hugh 0Qbornv 1 e llflotlrer' Janet I rcquellne fl rude Hopford I ertrude Huh Davenhall C ful larkhurit Joe Dolmon Dmlle I' w me Nlrks Qrmrns Man IIALI he Irxrnf morn of the Hrrpford home rn rrrruxu ern tr xn of VN rynes Great thunder Does She haue tn follow rne rrounl xx rth th It tank lmroug,lr I'lMl' SXNOPSIS Mt One Srx thrrtx rn the exenrnr, -X lun Scene 1 P11.,ht thrltx the next mornrng S ene 7 -Xn hour ner Mt Three Vue Ocloek that exenrng -Xll r1g.,ht mrss I II take th xt plete frret Xou ll haw to help rr e xxrth Qome of the heaxrer stuff modnese N h nt xx is the dmrrlrell I'lllL,lllj., l rf lt xxdxnt br anx chrnce the Vlel 1013 'lhe runrors rrnd senrurx held .1 heated spellmg match 'lhe eernors xwn une, and tled the other -Xn errjmable part followed 1.914 Phe Lldw Club tdnre rnto berng for bow to obtdrn experlenue 1Il publrt spedkrng and to bewme fallllllal vsrth parlramentdry hm ii Fzth -r' , , . 2 ' 55 !
