POM-PON SQUAD The Pom Pon Squad participated in the Rangler Girl Invitational Drill Team Contest for the very first time this year. They entered two categories, Prop and Novelty. The Prop, a salute to Broadway, was a chair routine to Big Spenderf' The team came in second place. The novelty was a tribute to America. lt was done to a medley of songs including Over There , You're a Grand Old Flag , Yankee Doodle Dandy , and the Olympic Theme. The squad wore patriotic colors, used hand flags, canes, and decorated bar- rels. This routine, a favorite of the crowd, received a third place. Mr. Bill King, the spon- sor of the tournament, felt the Carterville squad did very well for their first time in com- petition. The team was also very busy performing at football and basketball games during the year. Parades in marching season were also a priority for the squad. Over all with Cap- tains - Tracy Spencer, Gail Johnson, and Amy Carney the year was an incredible suc- cess and the pom-pon squad reached new L., .,-v , I H , . i A 4 - i 'i H ' f' . FLAG CORPS The 1984-85 flag corps with captain: Lisa Pillatsch and co-captain Dawn Runge, had a great year. They participated in the Carterville Free Fair Parade, the Cambria Labor Day Parade, the Old King Cole Festival, and all the home football games. They also participated in one bas- ketball game.
