1927 BLACK DIAMOND 1927 The characters were B1lly Abbey A young husband out of a job Paul Dorrls Mary Abbey Hls dlscontented w1fe V1v1an Sharp Mrs Berdon Marys Mother Ida Carter Sally Carter Marys bosom frlend Jaumta Rlchardson Harry Stevens Sallys sweetheart Frank Bracy Burt Chllds Blllys frlend Kenneth Corley Bobby Berdon a holy terror Keith Long Dolly Berdon another holy terrlor Ruth Boren Katle the Abbeys mald Paullne Cox Danny Grub and lceman sultor of Katie s Fred Hlndman Murphy a pollceman r1Val of Danny Edward Rutherford T1me Present Place Suburb of Phlladelphla SYNOPSIS OF ACTS Act I Llvlng room of the Abbeys home 1n Phlladelphla Act II The Same three days later Act III The Same lmmedlately after Act II So ended our second annual homecomlng and we are looklng forward to next year when we can repeat the event The Hallo Ween Carn1va1 The Halloween Carnlval whlch has become an annual event 1n the hlgh school calendar was truly a gala event thxs year By e1ght oclock when the grand march started the gymnaslum was thronged wxth people of every descrlptlon wltches fa1r1es gypS1CS colonlal ladles and gentlemen and dan cers jostled each other 1n good natured confusxon To the measures of a llvely march played by the band the grand march wound 1ts way around the gymnaslum and past the judges stand where Frankye Bradberry was awarded the prlze for the prettlest costume and Vlola Fulkerson for the most comlcal Then followed a mad rush for the mlnstrel show staged by the Athletlc assoclatlon In the IHUSIC room a not of s1de spllttmg fun was furnlshed by the famous Versatlle Vere de Vare SISICFS In the mean tune the gymnaslum was the scene of much festlvlty The Fortune Teller the ish pond and the eatlng stands all sponsered by the varlous classes kept the crowd busy and happy Everybody had a good tlme and at the same tlme contrlbuted to the support of the Black Dlamond L1brar y Day The second annual llbrary dr1ve was held St Patrlcks Day March 17th The publlc and the e1ghth grade were 1nv1ted to attend A short program was glven all Ir1sh numbers The program began at 2 30 The orchestra played a few numbers then Collen Allen gave an Ir1sh read1ng Peg O My Heart The Glrls Clef Club sang two numbers When Ir1sh Eyes are Smll mg and Mother Mc Cree Mr Martln spoke a few words to the assem bly After the program Mr Walker talked to the e1ghth grade About 100 new books were added to the Hlgh School L1brary and they certalnly are apprecrated by the students IS' .. ... 1 , . . . 1 . . , . . , . . . . . , . -.
