1927 BLACK DIAMOND 1927 D1str1ct Tournament The basketball season ended w1th the d1str1ct Tournament held at Her r1n Ill1no1s March 10 11 12 Cartervllle was scheduled to play the wlnner of the Marlon Elkvllle game 4Elkv1lle wmnerl Frlday afternoon March 11 Cartervllle played Elkvllle a harder game than Marlon d1d but were defeat ed by score of 24 18 Frank Jr Bracy center recelved honorable mentxon by the OfHC13lS of the tournament Herrln won the tournament playmg Ze1gler 1n the finals The annual Class Tournament of C C H S was held March 21 and 22 Wlth the usual pep and enthuslasm Each class chose a coach from the class and formed teams then the drawlngs were made as follows Senrors vs Jumors lgame 19 Sophomores vs Freshmen lgame 21 Losers of game 1 vs Losers of game 2 Wmners of game 1 vs Wlnners of game 2 A lovlng cup was offered by Coach Hale and the class whlch w1ns three e s on the cup becomes 1tS permanent owner The results were as follows Junlors first Sophomores second Sen1ors thlrd and the Freshmen last Coach Hale acted as referee for the games and good games were played This tournament has become an annual event Track Team The practlce for track began March 23 and about 25 or 30 turned out for practlce Coach Hale lntends to bulld a track team and IS encouragmg Freshmen and Sophomores to try out lvl Class Tournament 1 g ' .
