1927 ' BLACK DIAMOND 1927 GIRLS' QUARTETTE Music Department The music department consists of six departments Orchestra Band Girls and Boys Chorus Girls and Boys Quartet The Orchestra has twenty two members The students are getting ex cellent training in the course this year because the music 1S classical We have many excellent players ln the Orchestra The Band although the youngest organization 1S the most popular It is composed of fourteen members It takes care of the jazz and pep of the school We wish to thank the Band for the1r willingness to help out at all the games The Choruses are doing fine work this year They gave a Christmas Can tata a week before Christmas As we have many good singers the Cantata The members of the Girls Quartet are Ida Carter First Soprano Mary Rutherford Second Soprano Harriet Rutherford First Alto and Reba Bearden Second Alto At the beginning of school an octette was formed The other members are Janlce Lockie Edith Kidd Laverne Keith and Pauline Cox The Quartet was selected from this group They represented the school in the Intellectual meets with DuQuo1n Hurst Bush Johnson City the Conference meet at Harrisburg and entertained at several local functions The Girls Quartet and the orchestra furnished the music one mght for a musical concert I 6 . 1927 BLACK DIAMOND ' 1927 Household Sc1ence Club Early ln the year the glrls of the Household Sclence department met and organized the Household SCICHCC Club Sllver plns representmg the club were soon ordered To start the many good tlmes and work of the club the glrls entertalned themselves w1th a comblned hnke and wemer roast At the C C H S Carnlval the g1r1s sold part of the refreshments the proceeds bemg used on the pubhcatlon of the Black Dlamond Later ln the year they sponsored the homecommg dmner those proceeds were used to buy dlshes for the Household Scrence department On Dec 7th 1926 the glrls entertalned the school board thelr wnves Mr and Mrs H S Walker and Mrs Alleen Stemheuner wlth a s1x o clock dmner Near Chrlst mas they gave a Chrlstmas kld party for the club and faculty The work of thls club IS representat1ve constructive schoolwork As we look 1nto the future we ser many brlght prospects and many good tlmes mcludxng the Mother Daughter Banquet when the glrls of the club will enter tam thelr mothers Presldent Nadme Hutton Vzce Preszdenl Kathryn Young Secretary Treasurer Flossxe Taylor Sponsor Mrs Alleen Stemhelmer IJ9 s v . - . . . , 1 . . ., , , , . . . . . . . . . , . . , . 1 '1 - .

1927 BLACK DIAMOND 1927 BOY'S QUARTET MUSIC Department The Boy s Quartet was selected at the beginnlng of school The members are Harold Smith first tenor Loree Choate second tenor Frank Jr Bracy first baritone and James Lauder second baritone Robert Snyder was a member of the quartet but as he graduated at the end of the first semester They broadcasted from Harrisburg represented the school ln the Intel lectual meets entertained the Lions Club sang 1n the assembly and helped furnish the music one night of the Musical Concert Each department has advanced over last year and we hope they keep improving The success of this department IS due to the untirlng efforts and patience of our dlrector Miss Sorg I6 v, ' ' 2 ' . 2 . : - 1 9 , ' .
