75'Dlaclr Diamond 'C'l'l'S' iilerrulean Behatmg Svunetg The Herculean Debating Socrety was organized rn the latter part of the first Semester 1926 wlth Mlss Sarah Baker as coach lt started out wrth a rather small membershlp but they were active and soon the membershlp had grown to the number of twenty flVC The club elected xmmle Hastre Presldent Elvrs Bradbury Vlce Presrdent amce Loclue Secretary 7ella Eaton Typlst and Lxbrarlan and ames Lauder Door keeper A constltutxon was drawn up and thereby set rules and regulatxons of the club and nts officers Monday night was regular meeting mght Anna and Carbondale were chosen as their competitors ln the Blg debate The questlon belng Resolved that the National Defense of the Unrted States should be dlvlded into three separate departments War Navy and Alr The debating team was composed of slx members and the debate was held on March 2 1926 The negative team went to Anna where they won the debate while the affxrmatnve team stayed here to compete with Carbondale and they lost by fxve pomts After the brg debate the club came back to nts regular proceedings of parlramentary practnce and practxce debates each meetmg nlght The members of the teams have been awarded letters whrch they appreciate very much Some of the members will be absent next year but as the club rs organized the spnrlt will not due out and lt has prospects of contmulng the good work 87 ,ar , t, H . v AL' C?
