T5'Dladr Diamond C H S Efrezhman film:-5 18 artg For the last few years Madame Tradition has sald that the Freshman boys of the C C H S should be given a free halr cut at thelr first class party The great day had come It was Thursday September I5 about three weeks after school started We had done everythmg posslble to keep the upper classmen from knowmg the date of our first party But lt had 'eaked out and everyone knew xt by evening Freshman boys were grouped around here and there makmg plans to save thelr hanr Sophomores were dlseussmg where to get the best shears The tlme rolled around and lt was rammg when evenmg came The party was held at the house of Anna Kmg Most of the Freshmen had already arrlved and were mslde the house The upper classmen were outside ready to catch any straggler who had come late One boy succeeded m reachlng the house ln safety by climbing over several backyard fences The excitement ln the house was great There was a sense nn the atmosphere lxke that of sheep gomg to slaughter The Freshmen boys decxded that about the best thmg they could do was to surrender One boy would say to the other Ill go lf you ll go One by one they go out and get thexr mce hair sllcecl off They all looked like prcked chlckens when they came nn The gxrls stood xn the other room glgglmg and havlng lots of fun They seemed to be dlsappomted lf one boy dad not fare as badly as the others Well everyone took hrs medlcme and lt was declded that rt was about txme to eat Suddenly someone came running mto the room saylng They have stolen the lce cream Unfortunately the lce cream had been left near the pantry wmdow where lt was taken out Then there was nothing to eat but sour lemons so some of the party went home There was a merry tlme getting home as some fellows gave chase because they thought we had not been soaked enough 34 - o 0 u n ' v 1 1 . . 4- 1 . v n . . , . v 1 . . . . .1 - 1 . n . , .

75fDlaclc Dvamond C H S iffnnthall Banquet The football season for the year l925 was closed by a lovely banquet glven by the Athletlc Assoclatlon lt was glven at the Hugh School Gym nasxum Thursday evemng December I0 ln honor of the boys and coach Mr Glen Flshel who had shown such successful cooperatlon and brought such excellent results for the flrst football season ln C C H S The Banquet had been prepared by the Household Science Department 5UggCStlVC of the occasion with goal posts decorated ln blue and orange and under the dlrectlon of Mrs Aileen Stemhelmer The decoratlons were tlny footballs for favors Yellow chrysanthemums and candles also decorated the tables Those who enjoyed the banquet were the football boys and thelr glrl frlends all members of the faculty the yell leaders Mrs Walker and Mrs Frshel At SIX o clock the guests were served wrth a dellclous four course luncheon conslstmg of fruit cocktail baked ham ltallan potatoes baked beans rolls butter surprlse salad crackers olrves brick lce cream stuffed dates maca roons mlnts and nuts M ames E Bennett acting as toastmaster called upon each of the followmg Semor Boys to make a talk Paul Coss Taft Baker ames Hastle Bert Samuel Wyatte Norton Raymond Talley and Fred Lauder Each of However among all the gayety fun and laughter there was a spxrlt of sadness present for those who had played thelr last year of football for C C H S Each boy closed his speech wlth a pledge of honor and loyalty rn future years to hrs school The guests also enjoyed speeches from the coach and Mr Walker A the close of the banquet the boys gave a surprlse to Mr Flshel presenting hlm wlth a mmlature football upon which was engraved The Coach l925 26 Mr Fxshel received the grft gratefully thanking the boys for thelr appreclatxon of his coachlng There was an applause as the coach received the grft then all guests arose clasped hands and sang the school s Loyalty Song fgaskvthall Banquet Mr and Mrs Frank Lauder gave a banquet ln honor of thelr son Fred Lauder the basketball team Coach Flshel and a number of the basketball fans on the evenmg of Aprll 3 l926 The dlmng room was beautifully decorated nn blue and orange and a three course dlnner was served conslstlng of frult cocktail chicken ple peas ln patty shells mashed potatoes devlled eggs rolls apple ple and whipped cream After the banquet the boys girl frlends came ln and were served with lce cream and angel food cake The evenlng was spent In a soclal manner As favors small photograph albums were given dlsplaymg the llfe of Fred lauder by plctures and wrrtmgs They afford very pleasing remem hrances of the Captam of l926 83 0 Q r. J . ' the boys gave an interesting talk regarding football and sports in school. ' . . t
