' . , ..l I ' - Q I 75'Dlaclr Daamond C ll S he Qrstnrg nf the Sophomore 0112155 Once upon a txme and not very long ago there came xnto exnstence a mnghty llttle 'mrmy The army was made up of about one hundred soldxers who fought valxantly to uphold rts honors The leader was a person of courage and bravery and helped the soldners to wm several vxctorles Don t laugh now but lxsten closely and l will tell you the name of this great army It was the Freshman class of l924 1925 and the leader was Mxss Anna Pavne During the first nlne months after this army was organized the omcers were Reba Choate Berton Russel and Floe Taylor This army fought several battles the most lmportant of which were the following Battle of Algebra Battle of Latm Battle of General Sc ence They won all these battles although several of the soldlers fell They Won the greatest vxctory ln the Battle f General Scrence because they had learned to prepare and make use of the dliferent gases They prepared for an entertamment for the soldxers on Cleo Felts lawn but xt turnecl out to be a battle when some opposm armles made an attack using clippers and shears for weapons ln une l925 the soldlers were sent home on a short furlough but rn August they agam met at the tralnmg camp and began tralmng for the battle of Geometry and Caesar lt was now trme to elect a new leader and new officers so a meetmg was called for the electron Now the army was by this trme entxrely too great to be put m the hands of a smgle leader therefore the soldners deemed It wrse to elect two Again they con ldered the matter serxously and elected Mr Flshel and Mrs Stemhexmer The new officers were Frances Apple Gusta Ferrell Reba Choate Partres7' Of course an army must have some entertamment besldes battles ln nts second year thls army of which l am tellxng had partxes at whxch peace was more prevalent than at the one held ln the flrst year and the Sophomore year promlsed to be more peaceable than the Freshman year had been for the soldiers A Genmvtrg Brram Once upon a mldnxght dreary whxle l pondered weak and weary Over many a quamt and curlous Theorem of forgotten Geometry Whxle l nodded nearly nappmg suddenly there came a tappmg As of Bennett soundly rappmg rappmg on my 1vory dome Ah distinctly l remember lt was ln the blealc December And each statement of the Theorem wrought no mark upon my brain Oh' l vamly craved vacatnon now I wxshed an elongatlon Of the txme between the present and the next examlnatxon Back now to Geometry turnmg all my soul wnthnn me burning Soon l felt the tappmg somewhat harder than before Now a grip upon my shoulder Oh' that l but knew the Theorem Then l found myself awakening and knew twas but a dream DELL X H-XRRIS 45 Q 0.0 n C 1 . . . . .
