One of the most modern cities in the world, Dubai is one of seven emirates which make' up the United Arab Emirates CUAEJ. The city is flow- ing with life and is greatly influenced by West- ern culture. Muslim by religion, the city is very open to other cultures. Dubai boasts of being the largest and most advanced shipping and com- merce centers in the World. Several activities were afforded to CARTER HALL sailors during the seven day port visit. The Seaman Center Was the first oasis, offering many activities such as a swimming pool, restau- rant, bar, pool tables, and large video screens for watching sports. There Were computers to email home or surf the web. Many of the crew mem- bers took safari tours which Was very adventur- ous. Many shopped at the huge three story city mall. Dubai had plenty to offer, and the crew of the CARTER HALL enjoyed immensely.
