He was graduated from the College of the City of New York in 1943 and completed the Naval Reserve Midshipman School at Columbia University in June 1943. He was commissioned Ensign, U, S, Naval Reserve in June 1943 and subsequently was promoted to Lieutenant Commander, U. S, Naval Reserve in 1954. He received his commission in the U. S. Navy in 1955 as Lieutenant and was subsequently advanced to the rank pf6Commander, U, S. Navy on 1 September 9 2. During World War II, he served aboard the minesweepers U.S.S. VICTOR gAMC-1095, U.S.S. YMS-88 and commanded U. .S. YMS- . During the Korean War, he served in U.S.S. ENDICOTT QDMS-353 and commanded U.S.S. SWIFT QAM-122D and U.S.S. SHOVELER QAM- 382j . Following the Korean War, he command- ed Mine Squadron ELEVEN and served as Executive Officer in U.S.S. LEONARD F, MASON QDD-8525 and U.S.S. ISLE ROYALE QAD-295. He has served ashoretfas Aide to the Governor of Samoa,.' Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Training Center, Pontiac, Michigan, and as Assistant Naval Attache, Pakistan. He completedipost grad- uate instruction in Naval fQ'Administration flsland Governmentj and Intelligence at Stan- ford University and the Naval Intelligence School, Washington, D. C., respectively. He holds the Bronze Star-SMedal with Combat V. He also holds the following awards or medals: Naval Reserve, American Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, China Service, World War II Victorygg-fNational Defense, Korean Service, UnitedkfNa1tions Service and the Korean Presidential' Unit Citation. x v-
