Grauel, Mr. Anderson TO THE GRADUATES OF 1955: Again we are reminded of the permanence of change as we see new faces enter our schools each year and move through the curriculum to graduation. We are always ha py to see new faces enter, and we suffer a kind of empty feeling when those who have been with us through the years leave for further adventures along life's way. We hope that the time spent in school has been a pleasant experience. We hope also that you will feel that it has been a profitable experience. After you have had ten years or more to think over your school days we would like to have your comment. Tell us what we should have done for you that we did not do. It may help us do a better job for those who follow. You are the voters and the taxpayers of tomorrow. You have great responsibilities. You have many jobs to do. Please keep education uppermost and most important of all your activities. Be forever a student. Be forever a teacher. You are a graduate of Carrollton Community Unit High School. The school is pressing ever forward so you can be proud that you are an alumnus. In return, so adjust and pattern your life that the school can point to you with pride. As you go ever onward may the knowledge gained and the associations made be ever helpful. May the guiding hand of God help you on your course to success. Sincerely, Olin W. Linda, Sharon, Sarah, Loretta, Sandy, Gary, Duane and Art, CLASS HISTORY Four groups of students out of our Senior class attended school together for twelve years. Linda Carpunky, Sharon Howard, Sarah Williams, Loretta Smith, Sandra Carter, Gary Turpin, Art Linn, and Duane Pruitt spent twelve years at Carrollton, At Eldred, Shirley Camerer, Becky Bechdoldt, and Stanley Tribble started, Yvonne Gilbert and Carroll Evans began their school career at Forest Oak. At Mt, Gilead, Sandra Landon and Duane Var- ble began their school career, September 1, 1951 saw these students and other members of the class of '55 start to high school, The first . event of importance, which all Freshmen mustface, was the Freshman initiation. With it's completion we were ' full fledged members of Carrollton High School, The rest of the year was rounded out with several parties. Our Sophomore year brought about an increased population in our class, The school had been consolidated which brought students from Eldred and surrounding areas, Something which we shall never forget is the Hawk we made for the homecoming parade, Significant of this year was the standard crest chosen for our rings by the Jun- iors. Out side of thiswe spent a quiet and relaxed year, At last we had become upperclassmen, We were now Juniors, and as Juniors, we had to work hard to finance the Junior-Senior prom, Among our enterprises to raise money for the prom was the annual Junior class play, Meet Corlis Archer. Under the successful guidance of Miss Bell, our play proved to be a success, We worked hard to finance the prom and were granted much satisfaction by it's great success, The theme of the prom was Evening in the Islands, We have entered the last lap of our high school career, We are Seniors, As Seniors we have worked hard and we must continue to work hard, The Senior class is responsible for the Annual and the senior trip, The Snowflake Festival was the first event of major importance to raise money, The Senior class play, Girl Shy, was a success and increased our treasury, The proceeds from the preceding events, plus the money we received from the sale of the annuals and Ready-Jell brought us through comfortably, On May 20, we shall take a trip to Kirkwood Lodge in Missouri, The Senior Tea will be the last gathering of our class before we graduate, Our days are numbered now. On May 31, our high school career will end, These four short years have passed quickly and we shall never forget our days at C. C. U. ll. On Thursday night the bonfire and pep meeting was a success with a big crowd and lots of noise. The streets were crowded as people watched the many floats, in the parade pass. They were constructed by various school organizations and businessmen. Our Hawks victory of 26 to O over Whitehall made the homecoming very successful. For the dance the gym was beautifully decorated. The coronation ceremonies proved to be very beautiful and impressive as Wanda Varble, a Senior, was crowned queen. Wanda was escorted by Duane Varble. First attendant was Patsy Talley, escorted by Joe Brannan, second attendant, Jeannie Dotson, escorted by Art Linn, third attendant, Wanda Schofield, escorted by Junior Day, and fourth attendant, Bonnie Turpin, escorted by Gary Turpin. The Retiring Queen, Miss Sandra Carter, was escorted by Gene Skaggs. We of the White C Staff hope in years to come that we can help you to recall the good times of Hornecoming week by our presentation of the 1954 Homecoming Jeannie and Art Wanda and Junior W' Bonnie and Gary X --av: nf .P af X Judy Jones and John Roll Queen Wanda The Coronatlon .ff If W7 CAIHHILLTH HAWK 4. , . lf ' 1 Q ai' 1 Coach Holmes J f-F , IST ROW: J.
