I' QC Date September 1 1962 Event The th1rd trxp to the moon Ten years ago the Sen1or Class of 1952 53 was just startmg 1ts last year at good old C C U H S Now, chartermg our rocket sh1p we are off to the moon We s1t down and who should fasten us ln our seats but Helen Rlchards We are now about ready to blast off Down on the ground we see Bob Wh1te s1de who never had any des1re to travel or any lust for adventure He waves goodby to us and we are off As we leave the earth we ask Helen who the p1lot of the sh1p 1S She tells us that lt xs Don Graner w1th Darlene Daum as h1s co p1lot At the radar controls IS Norman Curley' Evans Up a few m1les nn the stratosphere R1chard Portwood presents us w1th oxygen masks He shows us how to use them and then d1sappears We travel a few more thousand m1les and then suddenly we see somethlng commg As It passes at superson1c speed we are 1nformed by our radar man that lt IS Ronn1e Byland At h1s s1de and operatmg the dual controls IS Vernon 'Hot Rod' Short As we draw near the moon we see several strange looklng objects These we f1nd are flyxng saucers patroll1ng the area At the controls of one of these 1s R1chard Ross He warns Don to slow down as he 15 travelmg two thousand m1les an hour 1n a one thousand f1ve hundred m1le an hour zone Drawmg closer we see somethmg wh1ch we always thought was the man 1n the moon Th1s we real1ze IS Dlck Wllson Wavlng us 1n for a landlng IS John Huff Adraln R1ce fastens we1ght on our feet and warns us to leave them on or we Wlll float off 1nto space We all follow h1s adv1ce and proceed to the Off1Ce of the Moon A1rport In the Off1Ce 1S Al1ce Logan who IS announclng the schedule over a pubhc address system She really doesn't need It but she uses the m1crophone for show Next we walk down the ma1n street of Moonv1lle and see Rondall Herr1ng d1rect1ng traff1c on the flrst corner Stepplng 1nto a res taurant we see Martha Flatt as the door woman Two very n1ce lookmg g1rls walt on us and we come to fmd that they are Joan Darr and Sally Wh1taker Wash1ng dlshes 1n the restaurant IS Jan1ce Tonslls Fry She s1ngs as she works and IS hop1ng that she soon w1ll be promoted to a wa1tress As we step outslde we see someth1ng com1ng down the street It IS Carole Ham1lton and Peggy McCaherty They are chaslng two poor defenceless boys who are Joe Wagner and Roy Speckhard Joe seems to be enjoyxng h1mself but Roy acts as though he's a b1t annoyed We now ha1l a cab only to f1nd that the drrver IS Jennle Carstens who s1ts on a p1le of old text books so that she can see out of the w1ndsh1eld Jenn1e lets us out by a mov1e advert1sement Wh1Ch looks very exc1t1ng We go to see the show and f1nd that the t1cket taker IS Kather1ne Woodson Starrmg 1n the movle 'It Takes Two To Tangle are W1lma Mart1n and Margaret Brannan The ladles play two very romant1c parts and do a good Job of It When thls IS over we drop 1n on our two old frlends We ask them 1f they know anyth1ng about two more of our former classmates Frances Vlnyard and Yvonne L1nn W1lma tells us that these two are burlesque queens and draw tremendous crowds Steppmg 1nto the lobby of a superson1c hotel, two ladxes step forward bow polltely, and take our luggage These two are Sh1rley Mxller and Phyll1s Wlllen burg They make good lady bell hops because of the1r pleasant personahtles Our last venture on the moon at thxs t1me IS very mterestxng Here we v1s1t the flrst educatlonal 1nst1tut1on The Umversxty of the Moon Only the most 1ntell1gent personel work here Joyce Wlles lS now famous for her book on The Earth As Stud1ed From the Mo In the chemlstry lab we flnd Sam M l drum actlng as a human gulnea p1g for h1s own experlments He tests the types of food best to be eaten on the moon and samples them Sam now WC1ghS about two hundred fxfty pounds earth welght Phylhs Day IS 1n the atom1c research laboratory She 1S a key f1gure 1n the study of 1mproved atom1c weapons agalnst the Moon Monsters an organ1zat1on of law breakers who are led by the one and only Bertle The Kxd Bushnell On future trxps to the moon we hope to f1nd our old classmates st1ll lead lng thexr reckless l1ves 1n an effort to colon1ze the moon 18 : n . .... , , .
