The first activit: of the xuecif, was the presenta- tion of the ninior play, Clarenie , on Wc-d.it-sdaj.. l'l.,ii'sdaj. night the annual pep mcetinl and bonfire was held at Wright Memorial Park. Friday rriorniml the stndents worked hard preparing floats for the parade that afternoon. Eaeh department of the school and sex- eral business firms entered floats in thc parade while several stores decorated their windows. Tnc' parade, consisting of forty-five units, was the longest since Homecoming was started four years ago. Friday night the football boys helped make Homecoming a success by defeating Jerseyville 26-6. Homecoming Week was climaxed Friday t'X'Clllllg with the crowning of Barbara Scroggins as the Homecoming Queen for 1951 , Her escort was Harry Moss. She was crowned by the retiring queen, Janelle Ixlaholland, whose escort was Joe Johnson. Her attendants and their escorts were: Sara Tapp and Jack Tapp, Phyllis 'xlartin and Stanley Reno. Delta mchoficld and Ray Shaw, and Barbara Owens and Donald Graner. Bcckl. Car- piinkg served as flower girl and Terry Cannon as page. Jim Johnson, acting president of the student council during the absence of John Darr, who was re- coxcring from inniries in a recent foot- ball game, was master of ceremonies and presented a gift of a silver braclet to the queen. Following the crowning of the queen, Miss Virginia Hutcliens, of Robinson, formerly a student of CHS, sagg Sweetheart of Carrollton High to the new queen.
