The pep band added zip to the basketball games, and the marching band gallantly led the home- coming floats through the streets of our town. Coach Jim Keranen in his first year of coaching ably led his team through a most successful season. He and his boys are deserving of the felicitations their followers gave them. After playing an overtime in their first game at the regional tournament in which the Cardinals had period leads, they were defeated in their bid for a berth at the state tournament. Why is it that everyone looks forward to their senior year? The answer can never be fully ex- plained until one is a senior. Then every small event takes on a new meaning. You suddenly real- ize that this is your last year and you strive to make every meeting and game unforgettable. The seniors lend much support to the various teams and main activities. Our last and busiest year would not have been so successful without the in- valuable aid of our teachers. We realize that although graduation is the los- ing of one phase of life, it is also the opening of a new and entirely different phase, that of living and working in an adult life. As in our sketch, the long arm of opportunity reaches out and of- fers the senior a chance for a career, domestic duties, or a higher education. It is a challenge, and we accept it solemnly.
