He re- ceived his M.A. degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Stockum has been teaching at Car- negie for seventeen years. Aside' from teach- ing social studies, he is the head coach of the varsity basketball and baseball teams, which takes up most of his time. , Mr, Stockum is noted for his famous deals . He has the sophomore homeroom 210. His room is Well represented in Student Council by Mary Lu Speziale and Richard Grove. Mr. Stockum

Homeroom 208 Mr. Palonis After graduating from South High School, Mr. Palonis attended the University of Pitts- burgh where he received a B.A. degree. He was the recipient of the Frick Scholarship which enabled him to attend the University of Mexico. Mr. Palonis has been a-t Carnegie High for six years. He teaches French and Spanish and is the sponsor of the French-Spanish Club. The purpose of this club is to better the understanding of the French and Spanish people and their way of living. The members of the club consist of students taking the French and Spanish languages. Mr. Palonis can be easily distinguished by his curly hair and his height. He has the sophomore homeroom 208. His Student Coun- cil representatives are Diane Bevard and Kent Medwig. Homeroom 1 1 Mr. Burkett Mr. Burkett, who was once a student at Carnegie High School, has been teaching here for sixteen years. After graduating from Carnegie High, he attended Indiana State Teachers College where he received his B.S. degree, he then attended the University of Pittsburgh Where he earned a Master of Let- ters degree. Burk, as he is better known to the stu- dents, teaches physics, physical science, a-ntd chemistry. Mr. Burkett sponsors the Camera Club, in which its members are taught the techniques of developing, printing and en- larging pictures, and the purchasing of photo- graphic equipment. Burk also sponsors the Future Engineers and Scientists of America. He is most famous for his shock treatment. Mr. Burkett has the sophomore homeroom 211.
