Our years at C. H. S. have been happy ones, and this year is turning out to be the busiest and happiest of all, ' Our class rings were received and worn with pride. We have been kept busy having our pictures taken, presenting the senior play, working on the Tomahawk, the Kaskaskian, and many other things We have eight members in the band. Six of our boys played on the baseball team and we also have six players on the varsity basketball squad. We are proud to have in our class Sybil Andres, who was chosenQueen of the 1953 Hoo Doo and has been a cheerleader for four years. Our class has been well advised by two capable sponsors, Mrs. Reid and Mr. Harriss. Although we can never attend the new high school, we were glad to have a part in campaigning for it. To those who will in the future graduate from the new C. H. S. and to all our friends at old C. H. S. , we wish the best of luck always. gp Morons 10 CIASS IH I954 SYBIL ANDRES The Student's choice. JOHNNY FISHER SHIRLEY JONES BARBARA SPREHE President IERRY TRICKEY Vice- President Secretary Treasurer We, the Juniors, have experienced one of the busiest and happiest years in high school. Mrs. Nordberg and Miss Ford sponsored our class and helped us through our first big event, the Hoo Doo. Our theme for it was Moonlight in Hawaii . Shirley Jones and Melba Vogel were chosen as our class candidates, and Johnny Fisher escorted the retiring queen. We are well represented in the field of ath- letics. We are also very proud that five cheer- leaders were chosen from our class. They are Janice Berry, Barbara Gill, Pat Shepherd, Melba Vogel, and Beverly Wurm. They did a wonderful job of leading our boys on to victory. Our three representatives to the Student Council are Amanda Wessel, Fred Reid, and Barbara Gill. R Many of our members are musically inclined and will represent our school at the District Music Contest. We are looking forward to the Junior Play and the Prom and hope they will be a big success. We shall see you next year, when we shall be the SENIORS. We started the second year with a new slate of officers to lead us through the on- coming year. Our class is showing talent in the music field with fifteen in band and two girls in sextet. Five of our boys are play- ing basketball and the student body chose three class members as B team cheer- leaders. Benny Schlott, Don Wells and Pat Wilkerson are the student council representa tives. We are happy to have one of our girls, Margaret Dempsey, as a special maid to the 1953 Hoo Doo Queen. Miss Wilma Dieckmann is our sponsor again this year after having given us out- standing guidance during our freshman year. We are hoping that our class will be the first to graduate from the new high school now under construction. The school year 1953-54 has been one wherein some promises made long ago have begun to be fulfilled. The building program for the school district is now under way--next year it should be com- pleted. New and brighter days lie ahead. May we remember that each of our lives may fulfill some cherished ambition of parents, friends or members of the com- munity--promises made long ago that find realization in the kind of person each of us become. Colman K. Winn PIHIIIUIIEHS Congratulations to the staff and sponsor of the TOMAHAWK. You have done a fine job, and you did it as quietly and peacefully as any group I ever knew.
