VIRGINIA HUMPHREY ,qu MISS JEAN WALKER JOYCE THOMAS PATSY HOBBS ANN SHANK Sponsor President Vue President Sefrefary Dear Student Body I have been asked to wr1te a letter to you tellmg about the Girls League Of course thats a subject that s very dear to my heart because I sponsor Grrls League and I feel that each year we have the outstandlng glrls ln O C on our councrl They are glrls who are good students and good leaders and are wrllmg to glve generously of therr trme and efforts to promote Grrls League actxvltxes Although mne gxrls are on the councrl every glrl ln school IS a member of the League The Glrls League gnves a Welcome Party IH September for all new grrls It s an orren tatron program but mcludes entertamment and refreshments The fxrst all school actrvxty IS usually the dance after the first Avocado League football game Thls IS a Kick Off dance and rs very excrtmg The most spectacular event sponsored by Grrls League IS the Chnstmas Formal Dance The decoratrons and refreshments are extravagant the band rs good and the students look thexr very best The Glrls League sponsors the ueen Contest the week prlor to the dance but all proceeds go to the Prrateer The Queen rs crowned at the Chnstmas Formal and she reigns over the dance Durmg the sprmg the League usually has a backward dance The gnrls ask the boys and of course there ns a bng crowd Vanous themes are followed from year to year The League takes part ln the Student Councll act1v1t1es too For example the Grrls League ns responsnble for the Float Sectron m the Escondrdo Rally Parade And of course they have a booth nn the All School Carnnval The last event of the year planned by the Glrls League rs the Mother Daughter Tea A fashion show of senlor act1v1t1es IS presented by Senlor Glrls and the new Glrls League Council is installed.
