COMING WEEK In the midst d4 lls and screams booming ocrossJhe cheering sections of the g h and con- tinuous waves of sle ekish dancers, excited cheerleaders, and rousing renditions ffom tl , Carlmont band, the classes competed at the Homecoming Rally for the most-important value of pride, With an Asian Invasion banner reading Wok the Wildcats , the Sophomores captured first place in this artistic event and the Seniors ' harsh cries of their Wildcatastrophe won them a first in the yell competition. This rally was the beginning of the number of events in Homecom- ing Week that would more or less decide which class would dominate in the race for distinc- tion among the many. Because the Homecoming Dance was on Halloween the week before, it gave everyone the chance to put ail their en- ergy into supporting the Carlmont football teams at the Homedbming Game against Woodslde||A long awaited event but finely here, the float competition sprcarig. up at half- time with a parade qf multi- colored spectacles; but the Juniors ' Tame the Wildcats was the final victor. Our Varsity football team ' s solid victory and the reminiscence of the fun we ' d had that week declared all the work done by the class commitees and our Varsity foot- ball team a resounding success! 15

A New Look At the Homecoming Dance this y j the traditionally formal garb was trairo in for wacky attire and original Halloween costumes. Crowned as this year ' s Homecoming Kincyand Queen, Chris Westcott and Y m Kauffold took the honors of heading our royal court. The Junior class elected Scott Retchless as thaif ' rince while Suzy McCarthy and Erica nes tied as their Princess. As for the Duke and Duchess, Matt Hermon and LaShawn Williams represented the Sophomores, and Charlie Hatcher and Christine Damante became the Freshmen ' Lord and Lady. In spite of all this glamourous royalty, everyone had a wild time doing the Hokey Pokey, dancing to all kinds of music, and just plain enjoying themselves. 16
