The a cappella choir participated in the annual Christmas concert, entitled Why the Chimes Rang. Seniors in the choir caroled throughout the halls before Christmas vacation. The choir also sang in community and civic functions during the Christmas holidays. Combined with the girls ' chorus and men ' s glee, the a cappella choir gave a stunning performance at the spring con- cert on March 26 and 27. The choirs also sang in two festivals. The district festival was on April 30 at Menlo-Atherton and the state festival was on April 3 at Stanford. Gerald Einaisson: Advanced Band, A Cappella and Choral [ The Carlmont marching band of 1965 helped boost school spirit with half-time entertainment at football games and pep music at rallies. Hard work went into organizing this year ' s Bandorama that featured the new stage band. It was held at the Notre Dame auditorium on February 26 and 27. The orchestra cooperated in presenting the impressive Christmas concert, in which they played the finale, the theme from Beethoven ' s Ninth Symphony. They also participated in the annual spring con- cert that was highlighted by pianist Mary Otter son. 16 1. L Miss Janne Shreves; General Math and Algebra I TOP-SECRET EXPERIMENT IN CHEMISTRY. Jean Schnell Secretary-treasurer Mike Savage President Barbara Lewis Vice-president 36 The Class of ' 65 They were bewildered, naive, and confused. They were freshmen. They elected Mike Keagy president and Kathy Lynch vice-president and Pat Girouard secretary-treasurer. They worked hard. They were smart, snobbish, and surly. Naturally they were sophomores. Their president, Ken Nichols, was chosen to lead his class with the help of vice- president Pat Girouard and secretary-treasurer Sharon Gaskell. They sponsored Tahitian Holiday, a casual dance which featured a limbo contest. They were studious, over-worked, and optimistic. They were juniors. They greeted their new title of upperclassmen with pride. As they realized their junior prom would involve the most work of all their activities, they began to plan for it, early in the year. President Harry Bettencourt, vice-president Mike McCann, and secretary- treasurer Cindy Meredith were the elected officers. They introduced the orig- inal ideas of selling sno-cones and doughnut holes on their sales days. Along with these sales days came basketball and football concessions which built their treasury for the upcoming prom. Princess Carol Med- ley reigned over their junior prom, Moonlight ' n Roses. They then began work on the spring play, An Evening of Comedy, four one-act plays which ran successfully for four nights. The year ended with the junior fun night, where badminton, swimming, volleyball, basketball, and dancing were offered for their amusement. The proceeds were used to buy a going-away present for Mrs. Elsie DuBois, dean of girls. They were confident, satisfied and lazy. They were seniors, and senior lawn was theirs at last. They started the year with the Sock Hop to weclome the freshmen. They were aware that their senior ball would be their most expensive activity, and they helped finance it with the profits from sales days and game concessions. They elected Mike Savage, presi- dent, Barbara Lewis, vice-president and Jean Schnell, secretary-treasurer. The climax of the year came April 24 when the Cabana, a hotel in Palo Alto, pro- vided a fabulous setting for Misty, the senior ball. Later in spring they sponsored the spectacular musi- cal, L ' il Abner, which was an overwhelming success. Finally graduation day came. They looked into that big world, and once again they were bewildered, naive, and confused. William B. AchefF Wrestling 1,4, An Evening of Comedy 3. Each administrative class elects a president and it is his obligation to attend bi-monthly meetings presided over by Mieke Dankers, student-body vice-presi- dent, and advised by social studies teacher Robert Hunter. The president then reports to his class and in this way brings go ' ern- ment a step closer to the students. This year the student council sponsored the annual Sadie Hawkins dance and sold candy at all afternoon home basketball games. The seniors enjoyed a delicious prime rib dinner. Five couples dined at each table decorated with midnight blue can- dles in a nest of angel hair, which added to the misty atmosphere. The climax of the evening was the coronation of Queen Sally McMeekin by class president Mike Savage. Sue Ben- nett, Cathy Goldman, and Marge Wright were Sally ' s court. The couples danced until 12:30 to the music of Don Carle ' s 12-piece band. Before and after the dance many par- ties were given by indvidual seniors. On Sunday the beaches were mobbed by seniors who sought a rest after the dance. MISTY MUSIC BY DON CARLE.
